My approach to therapy.

What is therapy with me like?

Clients tell me that they feel listened to, valued, and understood in the space we share together (even virtually!). They say I am a warm, supportive, and validating presence in their lives.

Research shows that the therapist-client relationship is one of the biggest predictors of success in therapy. I have certainly seen evidence of this in my own work with clients. While therapy is not always comfortable, finding a therapist who connects with you makes a huge difference in how “successful” therapy feels.

If you’re interested in which types of issues I help people address, check out the Specialties tab for some specifics. But for now, here is a quick list of what I help with:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Managing emotions effectively

  • School issues

  • Chronic stress

  • Self-esteem and self-image

  • Behavior change

  • Trauma and abuse

  • Life transitions

  • Goal setting and management

  • Skill building

  • …and more

Maybe you already know a thing or two about therapy and want to know which modalities I use. I integrate more than one type of therapy into my work, depending entirely on the needs and situation of each individual I see. Some of the modalities and perspectives I utilize are:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy

  • Dialectical behavior therapy

  • Narrative therapy

  • Mindfulness

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • Neuroscience, including interpersonal neuroscience

  • Cultural and systemic influences

  • Attachment theory

  • Mind-body connections in mental health

Therapy works best in collaboration. I want to know what would make this process feel successful for you. I check in regularly with my clients to ensure we are continuing to be on the right track.
